Mental Health Summit Planning Committee
Nursing Course Union
The Nursing Course Union (NCU) is directly affiliated with the Ryerson Students’ Union (RSU) at Ryerson University. Our mission is the enhance student experience for individuals enrolled in the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing by offering services, events and support in both the academic and social setting. Working together with the Ryerson Chapter of the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association (CNSA), we have brought various events such as NCLEX seminars, social justice initiatives, annual Nurses’ Got Talent, pub nights, amongst many other events.
For two consecutive school terms, the NCU has been awarded the honorary Course Union of the Year award for its extensive dedication to serving its student body through various career, social and academic initiatives. Empowerment, capacity building, and peer support are three central components of our philosophy.
The Mental Health Summit will transcend solely targeting Ryerson nursing students. We strive to reach out to anyone, ranging from individuals possessing no prior knowledge of mental health, to an ally or champion of mental health. Any individual who aspires to gain further knowledge of mental health, network with like-minded individuals, immerse themselves in a breadth of cutting-edge mental health research or engage in interactive workshops is invited to participate. Regardless of prior knowledge of mental health, we believe the Mental Health Summit has something to offer.
To be a dynamic community of empowered students who demonstrate their interest and passion in Nursing at Ryerson University.
To enhance the Ryerson University experience for Nursing students by offering services, events, and support in the academic and social setting.

Ryerson Student Emergency Response Team
The Ryerson Student Emergency Response Team (RyeSERT) is a volunteer-based group of students who undergo CPR and advanced first aid training up to the EMR level. They are students with backgrounds as firefighters, paramedics, first responders, lifeguards, and those just interested in serving the Ryerson community with a genuine desire to help others. RyeSERT works hand in hand with Ryerson Security & Emergency Services in responding to all medical calls in the three Ryerson residences and at on-campus Ryerson events. RyeSERT provides the highest possible quality of pre-hospital emergency care to the Ryerson community and strengthens the ‘chain of survival’ through innovation, compassion and a tireless commitment to excellence.
